Singing Praise

"Singing and striking the strings with your heart unto the Lord." (Rotherham)

When I was small, I used to think that if I wanted very much to do a thing, that thing was probably wrong. And if I didn’t want to do it, it was probably right.

That is not quite fair to God, for "His commandments are not grievous, not heavy and burdensome" (1 John 5:3).

It is worthwhile to look out for the words in the Bible that tell us to do pleasant things, like singing. Psalm 71:23 says: "My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto Thee; and my soul, which Thou hast redeemed." How true that is; which of us does not know it? The way of escape from the wilderness (see Psalm 63, the wilderness psalm) is by the way of praise and song.
