RESET YOUR FIRE
"Create a new, clean heart within me. Fill me with pure thoughts and holy desires, ready to please you." Psalm 51:10 (TPT)
Why do we clean things? Have you ever thought about this? Why are we taught to shower and brush our teeth? Why do we clean the screen on our phones? Why wash the dishes? Simple- you clean things so that you can use them again. You wouldn’t knowingly eat off of a dirty plate containing unidentifiable left-over something on it. You’d rate a hotel 1 out of 5 stars if it had a nice exterior, but dirty rooms on the inside. You clean things so that you can use them again. The fact that they are clean indicates their readiness to be used again and again and again.
The cleaning process recognizes that in order for this item to fulfill its intended purpose, it must be restored to its intended design. You were created to be filled with pure thoughts and holy desires that please God. And the reason it pleases Him is not because he’s afraid of dirt, it’s because he knows that He didn’t design you to be dirty. God wants to wash you from your past because He intends to use you for His purposes.
Today’s challenge: Are there any attitudes, desires, or patterns that are out of alignment with God's purpose for your life? Consider Psalm 51 as your prayer today.
