Being on a team can be a lot of fun!
There's nothing like locking arms with like-minded people to accomplish a specific task. Whether you're preparing for a swim meet, D&D tournament, or a band competition, it feels good to know that you're not alone. You've got a team of people who are with you, cheering you on, and working toward the same goal.
Unfortunately, we don't always feel like we have someone who is truly in our corner, cheering us on. We want to be protected and cared for, but sometimes we feel like we are playing a solo sport, rather than being on a team. This can be especially hurtful when the people who are closest to us don't really provide for us in the way that we'd hoped.
Today's Scripture was written by the apostle Paul. He wrote it to a group of Jesus followers in Galatia. In his letter, he reminded the readers to carry one another's burdens. A burden is anything heavy. So, he was reminding them that they weren't meant to carry the painful, difficult things of life alone. They needed to help one another.
Paul didn't write this to siblings, parents, or best friends only. He said it to the entire church, and these words apply to us today, too. God wants us to help each other in the dark times, but God also wants us to know that there are people, beyond those closest to us, who are there to help. When times are tough, lean on other Jesus followers to help you lift the weight off your shoulders.

About this Plan

For the next four weeks, we’ll look at how the earliest followers of Jesus created a new kind of community as God's family. Through their example, we’ll learn that there is enough when we share what we have — and if there isn’t enough, God provides. We'll also learn that our actions can speak when words aren’t enough and that God’s love is always enough.
