God of Strength, as you led Israel to the Promised Land, so lead me to a deeper understanding of your Holy Word. Amen.
Read
Listen to the audio or tap forward to read today's passage (Judges 6:11-32) then tap back to reflect and pray below.
Reflect
In spite of Gideon hiding from an invading enemy, what does the angel of the Lord call him (v. 12)? What does God ask Gideon, a simple man, to do (v.16)? Why does God instruct Gideon to tear down an altar to a false god and build an altar to the true God before going to war (v.25-27)? In spite of my fears, how does God encourage me to follow him?
Respond
Father, I know that when I trust in you, I can do all that you give me to do. Help me to go forward confident that you are with me. Amen.
