Prayers for a Generous Heartნიმუში

Today we are diving into some powerful giving verses from the Gospels so we can see what Jesus had to say. Meditate on these verses and allow them to penetrate your heart. Don’t brush past the difficult ones, but instead tell God your fears and allow Him to do the work in your heart that only He can do. Let’s pray.
God, thank you for first giving the greatest gift to me by loving me so much that you sent your son Jesus to die for my sins. Help me to always frame all my giving through the lens of what you have done for me.
And help me to always give with a humble heart. Help me to never give to impress others or to build my reputation, but rather to give in secret and trust that you will reward me openly.
Help me to always remember that everything I have is yours and help me to always be willing to give with that in mind. Help me to not only give out of my abundance and extra, but to give sacrificially. To give when it hurts and trust that you will reward those acts of generosity.
I pray that I would be quick to give to everyone who asks of me knowing that your word says “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Help me never forget the promise of Luke 6:38 that as I give it will be given to me. I know that the way to having my needs met isn’t with a tight clenched fist, but it is actually in the letting go.
Help me to be bold with my giving and develop a deeper trust in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
