2 Corinthiansნიმუში

A foreign ambassador is a representative of their country in a foreign one. Their role is to represent their nation in another whilst also speaking the language and understanding the culture that they are in. Paul uses this as a picture for us as followers of Jesus in verse 20 when he says“we are ambassadors for Christ”.
We are to live as ambassadors for God’s kingdom on this earth. What is interesting about our role, is that we are ambassadors for a kingdom that we have never fully experienced. This is why relying on the Spirit, the life of Jesus, and the story of the Bible is so important for us.
Our other passage for today is Ephesians 2, which talks about how“we are his workmanship” (Ephesians 2:10). The Greek word for ‘workmanship' here is poiema - where we get our word ‘poem’. As a new creation, we are like a poem of God’s kingdom to the world around us. We are no longer “strangers and aliens”, but “fellow citizens” (Ephesians 2:19) of the kingdom of God. Our aim is to bring others into peace with God.
Let’s ask ourselves over the next couple of days: What does it look like for me to be an ambassador for God in my current life circumstances?

About this Plan

We are going through the book of 2 Corinthians together! We will be reading one chapter every week as we usually do, but this time we have also included devotions and other passages to read on certain days. We hope you will follow along with us as we deep dive into Paul's second letter to the church in Corinth and seek to see what we can learn from it today as we seek to follow Jesus together.
