The Road of Blessing: Think like Jesus
Corinth was a crossroads of commerce and trade. Visitors found an abundant market and temples to Greek gods and brothels. The city was a strategic center of politics and philosophy as well. Corinth was universally known for its rampant immorality. Paul spent almost two years in the city, working as a tentmaker and preaching the gospel of Christ. When he left to continue his mission work, others began preaching a message that was more inclusive of the cultural beliefs. As a result, the young church began to listen to false teaching and accept immoral behavior, which threatened the gospel message. Paul wrote his letter to correct the mistakes and to call the church to return to a right relationship with God.
For Sanctification: Review Romans 12:1–2. Spiritual understanding is a revelation of God through his Holy Spirit. What is necessary if we want to think like Jesus?
