Colossal Prayer
My wife Amy and I chose this passage as one of the main readings at our wedding. We still love how it is a colossal prayer that dares us to join the apostle Paul in asking these things of God—for others.
At the start of his letter to the Colossians, Paul wastes no time letting his brothers and sisters in Christ know what he’s praying for them.
How inspiring is it for a prayer to not hold back from calling on God to lavishly pour out the sorts of promises and power that God already has powerfully promised to pour out through Jesus?
Sometimes we can be timid or restrained in our prayers for others. Why do we do that? Savour this prayer and notice Paul has not forgotten what God gives to followers of Jesus.
God wants them to grow mightily in their faith, fruit and filling. We too can have the same extreme but achievable desire.
