Exploring the Deep Places With Godნიმუში

"Do Not Be Afraid"
We hear these words, “Do not be afraid,” right after the Holy Spirit invites us to follow Him into the “deep places” with Him. And perhaps it makes sense that God, in His kindness, would offer us this reassurance, this encouragement. After all, following Him anywhere takes trust, commitment, resolve, and surrender. It seems like we would need a lot of each of those things to head into deep places with Him.
So He tells us, “do not be afraid.” And what then, is the opposite of fear? Confidence? Moving toward something rather than away? Being curious and open? Taking actions that demonstrate trust (which, we imagine, can help us get our minds around the definition of “faith”)—yes?
Spend a few moments now standing before this “deep place” God is inviting you toward. Imagine Jesus standing with you, right beside you—maybe even with an arm around you, and looking with you, at this “deep place.” And then, as you both stand there together, imagine Him leaning in so only you can hear, and tell you, with the solid resolve and confidence that only Jesus can muster, “Do not be afraid.”
Will you heed His words? How do you respond to Him? What does your heart say?
