A Year in Luke/Acts

ỤBỌCHỊ 169 NKE 364

We start the book of Acts with Luke addressing the same character as in the Gospel, “Theophilus,” and setting the scene for the rest of the Book. In verse 3 Luke notes how Jesus presented Himself “alive” to His followers. Without the Resurrection of Jesus, none of the rest of what we are about to read is possible.

Everything in this book hinges on Jesus’ resurrection, not simply as an odd dramatic miracle that God did for Jesus, but as the launching of God’s new creation in the person of his son” (p3, NT Wright, The Challenge of Acts).
