Salt And Light

ỤBỌCHỊ 1 NKE 5

Jesus described the church as salt and light. Essential ingredients for human well-being. Can you imagine what the world would be like without them? The singer and songwriter, Rich Mullins, once said, “Faith without works is like a song you can’t sing.” Jesus calls the local church to play a vital role in bringing life to its community. To fulfil this calling effectively, it’s important to maintain our distinctiveness. In the book, When Helping Hurts , Brian Fikkert writes, “We cannot hope for the transformation of people without the involvement of the local church and the verbal proclamation of the gospel that has been entrusted to it.” This passage helps us realize the urgency of our calling. Jesus spells out the purpose of the Church as the bringer of God’s gifts, without which true life is impossible. While the world grows darker and blander, how do we continue to shine? How do we maintain our flavor?
