Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. The LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?” Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.” Then I said, “Put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the LORD stood by. The angel of the LORD gave this charge to Joshua: “This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here. “ ‘Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch. See, the stone I have set in front of Joshua! There are seven eyes on that one stone, and I will engrave an inscription on it,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and I will remove the sin of this land in a single day. “ ‘In that day each of you will invite your neighbor to sit under your vine and fig tree,’ declares the LORD Almighty.”

Apre sa, Senyè a fè m wè Jozye, granprèt la, ki te kanpe devan zanj Senyè a. Satan menm te kanpe sou bò dwat Jozye pou l te ka akize l. Zanj Senyè a di Satan konsa: — Se pou Senyè a regle ou, Satan. Wi, se pou Senyè a ki renmen lavil Jerizalèm lan regle ou! Nonm sa a tankou yon bout bwa tou limen yo kouri wete nan dife pou l pa fin boule nèt. Jozye te kanpe la devan zanj Senyè a, ak rad li tou sal. Zanj lan pran lapawòl ankò, li pale ak lòt zanj ki te la tou devan li. Li di yo: — Wete rad sal ki sou li a. Epi li di Jozye konsa: — Ou wè. Mwen wete tout peche ou yo. M'ap ba ou bèl rad pwòp pou ou mete sou ou. Lèfini, li pase yon lòd, li di lòt zanj yo: — Mare tèt li ak yon mouchwa pwòp. Yo mare tèt Jozye ak yon bèl mouchwa pwòp, epi yo mete rad pwòp sou li. Zanj lan menm te kanpe la ap gade. Apre sa, zanj Senyè a pale ak Jozye, li di l konsa: — Men sa Senyè ki gen tout pouvwa a di ou: Si ou fè sa mwen di ou fè, si ou swiv lòd mwen ba ou yo, se ou menm ki pral gouvènen kay mwen an. W'a reskonsab lakou m lan. M'a koute lapriyè ou menm jan mwen koute lapriyè zanj ki devan m yo. Koute byen, ou menm Jozye, granprèt la, ansanm ak prèt parèy ou yo ki la devan ou. Nou pral sèvi remak pou bagay ki gen pou rive a. M'ap fè sèvitè m lan, sa yo rele Boujon an, vini. Men m'ap mete yon wòch devan Jozye. Wòch sa a gen sèt fas. Se mwen menm ki pral make pawòl ki pou make sou wòch la. Se mwen menm Senyè ki gen tout pouvwa a ki di sa. M'ap pran yon sèl jou pou m wete tout peche ki nan peyi a. Jou sa a, yonn pral envite lòt vin lakay nou anba pye rezen ak pye fig frans nou yo. Se Senyè ki gen tout pouvwa a menm ki di sa.

Le SEIGNEUR me fait voir le grand-prêtre Yéchoua. Il est debout devant l’ange du SEIGNEUR. Satan, l’Accusateur, se tient à la droite de Yéchoua pour l’accuser. L’ange du SEIGNEUR dit à l’Accusateur : « Que le SEIGNEUR te fasse taire, Satan ! Oui, qu’il te fasse taire, lui qui a choisi Jérusalem ! Est-ce que Yéchoua n’est pas comme un morceau de bois tiré du feu ? » Yéchoua, debout devant l’ange, est couvert d’habits sales. L’ange commande à ceux qui sont avec lui de lui enlever ses habits. Puis il dit à Yéchoua : « Regarde, je t’ai enlevé tes fautes, et tu pourras mettre des habits de fête. » Il commande aussi de mettre un turban propre sur la tête de Yéchoua. On lui met donc un turban et des habits propres en présence de l’ange. Ensuite l’ange du SEIGNEUR déclare à Yéchoua : Voici une promesse du SEIGNEUR de l’univers : « Si tu fais ce que je dis, si tu obéis à mes commandements, tu seras responsable de mon temple et de ses cours. Je te placerai parmi ceux qui sont ici à mon service. Écoute, Yéchoua, toi qui es grand-prêtre, et écoutez, vous aussi, les prêtres qui êtes avec lui. En effet, votre présence à vous les prêtres annonce ce qui va arriver. Je vais faire venir mon serviteur, celui qui s’appelle Germe . Devant Yéchoua, je place une pierre. Sur cette seule pierre, il y a sept points brillants . Je vais écrire moi-même quelque chose dessus, et en un seul jour, je vais enlever les fautes de ce pays. Moi, le SEIGNEUR de l’univers, je le déclare. Ce jour-là, vous vous inviterez les uns les autres dans vos vignes et à l’ombre de vos figuiers. »

Puis il me fit voir Josué, le grand-prêtre, qui se tenait debout devant l’ange de l’Eternel. Et l’Accusateur se tenait à sa droite pour l’accuser. L’Eternel dit à l’Accusateur : Que l’Eternel te réduise au silence, Accusateur ! Oui, que l’Eternel te réduise au silence, lui qui porte son choix sur Jérusalem ! Celui-ci n’est-il pas un tison arraché au feu ? Or, Josué était couvert d’habits très sales et il se tenait devant l’ange. L’ange s’adressa à ceux qui se tenaient devant lui et leur ordonna : Otez-lui ses vêtements sales ! Et il ajouta à l’adresse de Josué : Regarde, j’ai enlevé le poids de la faute que tu portais et l’on te revêtira d’habits de fête. Alors je m’écriai : Qu’on lui mette un turban pur sur la tête ! On lui posa donc le turban pur sur la tête, et on le revêtit d’autres habits. Or, l’ange de l’Eternel se tenait là. L’ange de l’Eternel fit ensuite cette déclaration à Josué : Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées célestes : Si tu suis les chemins que j’ai prescrits et si tu obéis à mes commandements, tu exerceras dans mon temple les fonctions judiciaires, tu veilleras sur mes parvis, et je te donnerai des guides pris parmi ceux qui se tiennent ici. Et maintenant, écoute, Josué, toi le grand-prêtre, et tes collègues qui se tiennent devant toi, car vous êtes des hommes qui servez de préfiguration. En effet, je ferai venir mon serviteur, qui est appelé le Germe. Voici que je pose une pierre devant Josué. Sur cette pierre unique il y a sept yeux. J’y graverai moi-même son inscription, le Seigneur des armées célestes le déclare. En un seul jour, j’ôterai le poids de la faute que porte ce pays. En ce jour-là – le Seigneur des armées célestes le déclare – vous vous inviterez les uns les autres sous la vigne et sous le figuier.
