Moses also said to Korah, “Now listen, you Levites! Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work at the LORD’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them? He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too. It is against the LORD that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble against him?” Then Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab. But they said, “We will not come! Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? And now you also want to lord it over us! Moreover, you haven’t brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Do you want to treat these men like slaves? No, we will not come!” Then Moses became very angry and said to the LORD, “Do not accept their offering. I have not taken so much as a donkey from them, nor have I wronged any of them.” Moses said to Korah, “You and all your followers are to appear before the LORD tomorrow—you and they and Aaron. Each man is to take his censer and put incense in it—250 censers in all—and present it before the LORD. You and Aaron are to present your censers also.” So each of them took his censer, put burning coals and incense in it, and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the tent of meeting. When Korah had gathered all his followers in opposition to them at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the glory of the LORD appeared to the entire assembly. The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Separate yourselves from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once.”

Apre tou sa Bondye fè pou nou, nou jwenn li pa fè ase toujou: Nan tout pèp Izrayèl la, se nou li chwazi pou pwoche bò kote l, pou fè sèvis li nan kay li, pou kanpe devan pèp la pou fè sèvis pou yo. Ou menm Kore ak tout frè ou yo, pitit Levi yo, li ban nou dwa pou nou pwoche bò kote l. Epi kounyeya, n'ap mande pou yo ban nou plas prèt yo! Lè ou menm ak tout bann mesye ou yo n'ap plenyen konsa sou do Arawon, kisa Arawon ye nan sa? Konnen se kont Senyè a menm wi nou pran pozisyon. Apre sa, Moyiz voye rele Datan ak Abiram, de nan pitit gason Eliyab yo. Men yo voye di Moyiz: — Nou p'ap vini. Ou fin fè nou kite yon ti peyi kote lèt ak siwomyèl te tankou dlo, ou mennen nou vin mouri isit nan dezè a, epi koulyeya, ou vle pran pòz chèf ou sou nou ankò! Ou mèt di sa ou vle, men peyi ou mennen nou an pa menm gen lèt ak siwomyèl ankantite! Ou pa ban nou okenn jaden pou nou simen, ni okenn jaden rezen jan ou te di ou t'ap ban nou an. Atò ou kwè ou ka pete moun sa yo? Non, nou p'ap vini. Lè sa a, Moyiz fè yon sèl fache, li di Senyè a konsa: — Pa asepte okenn ofrann moun sa yo ta pote vin ofri ou. Mwen pa janm pran anyen nan zafè yo, pa menm yon bourik. Mwen pa janm fè yonn ladan yo anyen. Apre sa, Moyiz di Kore konsa: — Ou menm ak tout bann moun ou yo, denmen n'a vini devan lotèl Senyè a. Arawon va la tou. Chak moun va pran yon ti recho dife, y'a mete lansan ladan l, epi y'a pote recho yo devan Senyè a. Sa va fè desansenkant (250) recho. Ou menm ak Arawon, n'a vini ak recho pa nou tou. Se konsa, yo chak pran yon ti recho, yo ranje chabon dife ladan l, yo mete lansan sou dife a, epi yo vin kanpe devan pòt Tant Randevou a ansanm ak Moyiz ak Arawon. Kore te fè tout pèp la reyini nan pòt Tant Randevou a anfas Moyiz ak Arawon. Yo rete konsa, epi pouvwa Bondye parèt tankou yon gwo limyè devan tout pèp la. Senyè a pale ak Moyiz ansanm ak Arawon, li di yo: — Wete kò nou nan mitan moun sa yo. Mwen pral disparèt yo kounyeya.

Ensuite, Moïse dit encore à Coré : « Écoutez donc, vous, les lévites ! Le SEIGNEUR, Dieu d’Israël, vous a mis à part parmi les autres Israélites. Avec son autorisation, vous pouvez vous approcher de lui, vous êtes chargés de la tente du SEIGNEUR, vous le servez au nom de la communauté d’Israël. Est-ce que cela ne vous suffit pas ? Le SEIGNEUR vous a permis, à toi, Coré, et à tous tes frères lévites, de vous approcher de lui. Et vous réclamez en plus d’être prêtres ! C’est ainsi que toi et ta bande, vous vous révoltez contre le SEIGNEUR ! En effet, finalement, ce n’est pas contre Aaron que vous parlez. » Ensuite, Moïse envoie quelqu’un appeler Datan et Abiram, les fils d’Éliab. Mais ceux-ci lui font répondre : « Nous ne monterons pas en Canaan ! Tu nous as déjà fait quitter un pays qui déborde de lait et de miel , pour nous faire mourir dans le désert. Est-ce que cela ne te suffit pas ? Tu veux encore nous commander ! Vraiment, ce n’est pas vers un pays qui déborde de lait et de miel que tu nous as fait venir ! Tu ne nous as pas donné en partage des champs et des vignes ! Est-ce que tu nous prends pour des aveugles ? Nous refusons de monter en Canaan ! » Alors Moïse est très en colère. Il dit au SEIGNEUR : « N’accepte pas leur offrande ! Je ne leur ai jamais rien pris, même pas un âne ! Je n’ai jamais rien fait contre aucun d’eux. » Moïse dit à Coré : « Toi et ta bande, venez demain vous présenter devant le SEIGNEUR. Aaron viendra aussi. Prenez chacun votre brûle-parfum. Vous y mettrez de l’encens, et chacun de vous le présentera devant le SEIGNEUR. Cela fera 250 brûle-parfums. Aaron et toi, vous ferez la même chose. » Coré et sa bande prennent donc chacun son brûle-parfum. Ils mettent dedans des charbons brûlants, ils répandent de l’encens par-dessus et ils viennent à l’entrée de la tente de la rencontre. Moïse et Aaron sont là aussi. Coré réunit en face d’eux toute la communauté d’Israël, près de l’entrée de la tente. Alors la gloire du SEIGNEUR se montre à toute la communauté, et le SEIGNEUR dit à Moïse et à Aaron : « Éloignez-vous de ces gens-là, je vais les détruire tout de suite. »

Puis Moïse ajouta à l’adresse de Qoré : Ecoutez-moi bien, vous les lévites ! Ne vous suffit-il pas d’avoir été mis à part du reste de la communauté d’Israël par le Dieu d’Israël qui vous permet de l’approcher pour faire le service du tabernacle de l’Eternel et pour vous tenir devant la communauté en accomplissant un ministère en sa faveur ? Il vous permet, à toi et à tous tes frères lévites, de vous approcher de lui, et vous réclamez en plus le sacerdoce ! C’est pour cela que toi et toute ta troupe, vous vous liguez contre l’Eternel ! Car en fait, qu’est Aaron pour que vous protestiez contre lui ? Puis Moïse envoya chercher Datan et Abiram, fils d’Eliab. Mais ceux-ci lui répondirent : Nous n’irons pas ! Ne te suffit-il pas de nous avoir fait quitter un pays ruisselant de lait et de miel pour nous faire mourir au désert ? Faut-il encore que tu t’ériges en dictateur au-dessus de nous ? Ce n’est pas dans un pays ruisselant de lait et de miel que tu nous as conduits ! Ce ne sont pas des champs et des vignes que tu nous as donnés en possession ! Prends-tu tous ces gens-là pour des aveugles ? Non, nous n’irons pas ! Moïse entra dans une violente colère et il dit à l’Eternel : N’accepte pas leur offrande ! Je n’ai jamais rien pris de ce qui leur appartenait, pas même un âne, et je n’ai fait de tort à aucun d’eux. Moïse dit à Qoré : Toi et toute ta troupe, présentez-vous demain avec Aaron devant l’Eternel. Prenez chacun votre encensoir, mettez-y de l’encens et présentez-vous devant l’Eternel avec vos deux cent cinquante encensoirs ; toi aussi et Aaron vous tiendrez chacun le vôtre. Chacun prit donc son encensoir et y mit des charbons ardents qu’il couvrit d’encens. Ils se placèrent tous à l’entrée de la tente de la Rencontre, de même que Moïse et Aaron. Qoré avait rassemblé toute la communauté à l’entrée de la tente de la Rencontre en l’excitant contre eux. Soudain, la gloire de l’Eternel apparut à toute l’assemblée. L’Eternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron en ces termes : Séparez-vous du milieu de cette communauté, et je les consumerai en un seul instant !
