Li jete kò li Tasis paske li t'ap kouri pou Senyè a. Men, Senyè a voye yon gwo van sou lanmè a. Yon sèl gwo van tanpèt leve, batiman an te prèt pou koule. Maren yo te pè anpil. Chak moun t'ap lapriyè bondye pa yo. Pou yo te ka soulaje batiman an, yo lage dènye chay nan lanmè. Jonas menm poutèt pa l te desann nan lakal batiman an, li kouche kouche l. Dòmi pote l ale. Kaptenn batiman an al jwenn li, li di l konsa: — Ey! Apa se dòmi w'ap dòmi? Leve non, monchè. Lapriyè bondye ou la. Ou pa janm konnen, li ka gen pitye pou nou, li ka pa kite nou mouri. Apre sa, maren yo yonn di lòt: — Ann tire osò pou n konnen ki moun ki lakòz sa rive nou. Yo tire osò, epi se non Jonas ki sòti. Epi yo di l: — Di nou sa ki lakòz malè sa a rive nou. Sa w'ap fè isit la? Kote ou sòti? Moun ki peyi ou ye? Ki nanchon ou? Jonas reponn yo: — Mwen se ebre. Mwen gen krentif pou Senyè a, Bondye ki fè syèl la, lanmè a ak tè a. Jonas pale ak yo, li di yo ki jan li t'ap kouri pou Senyè a. Maren yo te sezi yon sèl sezi. Yo di l konsa: — Sa ou fè konsa, monchè? Lanmè a t'ap vin pi move chak lè. Yo di l: — Sa pou nou fè ak ou pou lanmè a vin kal? Jonas reponn yo: — Pran m, lage m nan lanmè. Lanmè a va kal nèt. Mwen konnen se mwen menm menm ki lakòz nou pran nan van tanpèt sa a. Maren yo menm t'ap naje zaviwon pou wè si yo ta mennen batiman an ale atè. Men, yo pat kapab, lanmè a t'ap vin pi move toujou. Lè yo wè sa, yo rele nan pye Senyè a, yo lapriyè li konsa: — O Senyè! Tanpri, pa kite nou mouri poutèt nonm sa a. Pa rann nou reskonsab lanmò misye. Ou wè nou inosan. Paske se ou menm, Senyè, ki vle li konsa. Epi yo pran Jonas, yo lage l nan lanmè. Lamenm, kalmi fèt. Lè maren yo wè sa, yo te vin pè Senyè a anpil. Yo ofri bèt pou touye ba li. Yo pwomèt pou yo sèvi l.

Jonas 1:1-16 Parole de Vie 2017 (PDV2017)

Un jour, le SEIGNEUR adresse cet ordre à Jonas, le fils d’Amittaï : « Debout, va à Ninive , la grande ville. Tu menaceras ses habitants en disant : “Le SEIGNEUR en a assez de voir vos actions mauvaises.” » Jonas se met en route, mais pour fuir à Tarsis, loin du SEIGNEUR. Il arrive à Jaffa . Là, il trouve un bateau qui part pour Tarsis. Il paie son voyage. Puis il monte dans le bateau, pour aller avec les marins à Tarsis, loin du SEIGNEUR. Mais le SEIGNEUR lance sur la mer un vent violent, et la tempête est si forte que le bateau risque de se casser. Les marins ont peur, chacun crie vers son dieu. Ils jettent à la mer tous les objets qui sont dans le bateau pour le rendre plus léger. Pendant ce temps, Jonas est descendu au fond du bateau, il s’est couché et dort profondément. Le capitaine du bateau s’approche de lui et lui dit : « Quoi ? Tu dors ! Lève-toi, crie vers ton dieu ! Il pensera peut-être à nous, et nous ne mourrons pas. » Puis, les marins se disent entre eux : « Pour connaître le responsable du malheur qui nous arrive, tirons au sort. » Ils tirent au sort, et le sort tombe sur Jonas. Alors les marins lui disent : « Notre malheur vient de toi. Dis-nous : qu’est-ce que tu fais ici ? D’où viens-tu ? De quel pays et de quel peuple es-tu ? » Jonas répond : « Je suis hébreu, et c’est le SEIGNEUR que j’adore, le Dieu qui est au ciel, celui qui a fait la mer et la terre. » Puis il leur raconte son histoire. Les marins ont très peur. Ils disent à Jonas : « Qu’est-ce que tu as fait là ! » En effet, maintenant, ils savent que Jonas fuit loin du SEIGNEUR. Ils lui demandent : « Qu’est-ce que nous allons faire de toi pour que la mer se calme autour de nous ? » En effet, les vagues montent de plus en plus. Jonas répond aux marins : « Prenez-moi et jetez-moi à la mer. Ainsi la mer deviendra calme autour de vous. Oui, je le sais, cette violente tempête vous attaque à cause de moi. » Les marins rament pour rejoindre la côte, mais ils n’y arrivent pas. Les vagues montent de plus en plus contre eux. Ils prient le SEIGNEUR et disent : « Ah ! SEIGNEUR, ne nous fais pas mourir à cause de cet homme ! Ne nous rends pas non plus responsables de la mort d’un innocent. En effet, c’est toi, SEIGNEUR, qui as fait ce que tu as voulu. » Puis, ils prennent Jonas et ils le jettent à la mer. Alors la colère de la mer se calme. Ensuite, les hommes sont remplis d’un grand respect envers le SEIGNEUR. Ils lui offrent un sacrifice et ils lui font des promesses avec serment.

Apre sa, mesye yo di Jonas: “Apa se ou ki fè bagay tèrib sa a rive nou! Di nou, ki peche ou fè? Ki metye w? Ki kote ou soti? Moun ki peyi ou ye? Ki ras ou?” Jonas reponn yo: “Mwen se Jwif. Mwen gen krentif pou SENYÈ a ki nan syèl la, ki fè lanmè a ak tè a.” Jonas di mesye yo: “Se kouri m ap kouri lwen SENYÈ a.” Mesye yo vin pè anpil lè yo tande sa. Lè sa a, yo mande Jonas: “Ki sa ou fè kon sa kont dye w la?” Pandan maren yo t ap pale kon sa ak Jonas, tanpèt la vin pi fò. Se atò lanmè a vin move. Lè mesye yo wè sa, yo di Jonas: “Ki sa pou n fè avè w pou lanmè a kalme?” Jonas reponn maren yo: “Mwen sèten se mwen menm ki rale malè sa a sou nou, paske sa m fè a pa bon. Pran m, lage m nan lanmè a, epi lanmè a ap kalme.” Olye yo fè sa Jonas te di a, yo te pito eseye ap fè lòt mannèv pou mennen bato a atè. Tanpèt la te kontinye vin pi fò. Epi lanmè a te vin pi move. Lè sa a, maren yo priye SENYÈ a konsa: “SENYÈ, tanpri, pa ban nou pote chay lanmò yon nonm inosan. Tanpri, pa touye nou poutèt lanmò nonm sa a. Nou konnen ou se SENYÈ ki fè sa ou vle.” Konsa, maren yo lage Jonas nan lanmè a epi lanmè a vin kal. Lè maren yo wè sa k te rive a, yo te vin gen krentif ak anpil respè pou SENYÈ a. Yo ofri yon sakrifis epi yo fè SENYÈ a plizyè pwomès.

The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD. Then the LORD sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up. All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep. The captain went to him and said, “How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us so that we will not perish.” Then the sailors said to each other, “Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity.” They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah. So they asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What kind of work do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?” He answered, “I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.” This terrified them and they asked, “What have you done?” (They knew he was running away from the LORD, because he had already told them so.) The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, “What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?” “Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied, “and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.” Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before. Then they cried out to the LORD, “Please, LORD, do not let us die for taking this man’s life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man, for you, LORD, have done as you pleased.” Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. At this the men greatly feared the LORD, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to him.

L’Eternel adressa la parole à Jonas, fils d’Amittaï, en ces termes : Mets-toi en route, va à Ninive la grande ville et proclame des menaces contre ses habitants, car l’écho de leur méchanceté est parvenu jusqu’à moi. Jonas se mit en route pour s’enfuir à Tarsis, loin de la présence de l’Eternel. Il descendit au port de Jaffa, où il trouva un navire en partance pour Tarsis. Il paya le prix de la traversée et descendit dans le bateau pour aller avec l’équipage à Tarsis, loin de la présence de l’Eternel. Mais l’Eternel fit souffler un grand vent sur la mer et déchaîna une si grande tempête que le navire menaçait de se briser. Les marins furent saisis de crainte, et chacun se mit à implorer son dieu. Puis ils jetèrent la cargaison par-dessus bord pour alléger le navire. Quant à Jonas, il était descendu dans la cale du bateau, il s’était couché et dormait profondément. Le capitaine s’approcha de lui et l’interpella : Hé quoi ! Tu dors ! Mets-toi debout et prie ton Dieu. Peut-être Dieu se souciera-t-il de nous et nous ne périrons pas. Pendant ce temps, les matelots se dirent entre eux : Allons, tirons au sort pour savoir qui nous attire ce malheur. Ils tirèrent donc au sort et Jonas fut désigné. Alors ils lui demandèrent : Fais-nous savoir qui nous attire ce malheur ! Quelles sont tes occupations ? D’où viens-tu ? De quel pays ? Et de quel peuple es-tu ? Jonas leur répondit : Je suis hébreu et je crains l’Eternel, le Dieu du ciel qui a fait la mer et la terre. Il leur apprit qu’il s’enfuyait loin de la présence de l’Eternel. Aussi ces hommes furent-ils saisis d’une grande crainte et lui dirent : Pourquoi as-tu fait cela ? Comme la mer se démontait de plus en plus, ils lui demandèrent : Que te ferons-nous pour que la mer se calme et cesse de nous être contraire ? Il leur répondit : Prenez-moi et jetez-moi à la mer, et la mer se calmera, car je sais bien que c’est à cause de moi que cette grande tempête s’est déchaînée contre vous. Ces hommes se mirent d’abord à ramer de toutes leurs forces pour regagner la côte, mais ils n’y parvinrent pas, car la mer se déchaînait toujours plus contre eux. Alors ils crièrent à l’Eternel et dirent : O Eternel, nous t’en prions, ne nous fais pas périr à cause de cet homme et ne nous tiens pas responsables de la mort d’un innocent. Car toi, ô Eternel, tu as fait ce que tu as voulu. Puis ils prirent Jonas et le jetèrent par-dessus bord. Aussitôt, la mer en furie se calma. Alors l’équipage fut saisi d’une grande crainte envers l’Eternel ; ils lui offrirent un sacrifice et s’engagèrent envers lui par des vœux.
