“Be silent before me, you islands! Let the nations renew their strength! Let them come forward and speak; let us meet together at the place of judgment. “Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow. He pursues them and moves on unscathed, by a path his feet have not traveled before. Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD—with the first of them and with the last—I am he.” The islands have seen it and fear; the ends of the earth tremble. They approach and come forward; they help each other and say to their companions, “Be strong!” The metalworker encourages the goldsmith, and the one who smooths with the hammer spurs on the one who strikes the anvil. One says of the welding, “It is good.” The other nails down the idol so it will not topple. “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

Se travay ki moun sa? Kilès ki lakòz tout bagay sa yo rive? Ki moun ki depi nan koumansman ap rele lèzòm, pitit an pitit, pou yo fè travay li sou latè? Se mwen menm, Senyè a, ki la anvan yo tout. Le SEIGNEUR dit : « Vous, les peuples éloignés, gardez le silence pour m’écouter. Reprenez courage, vous, toutes les populations. Avancez et parlez ! Oui, allons ensemble au tribunal. À l’est, quelqu’un se met en route . Il remporte la victoire partout où il passe. Qui l’a mis en route ? Qui lui livre les peuples ? Qui met les rois sous son pouvoir ? Son épée les change en poussière, son arc les chasse comme le vent emporte la paille. Cet homme les poursuit, il avance rapidement, en toute sécurité, sans mettre les pieds à terre. Qui a fait tout cela ? C’est celui qui crée les événements depuis le commencement. C’est moi, le SEIGNEUR. Je suis le premier, et jusqu’à la fin, je reste le SEIGNEUR. Les peuples éloignés ont vu ce qui s’est passé et ils ont eu peur. Les gens du bout du monde se sont approchés en tremblant. Chacun aide son camarade, l’un dit à l’autre : “Courage !” Le sculpteur encourage celui qui travaille l’or et l’argent. L’artisan qui aplatit le métal au marteau encourage le forgeron. Il dit de son travail : “Ça va bien.” Puis on termine la statue d’un faux dieu en la fixant avec des clous. » « Mais toi, Israël, tu es mon serviteur, Jacob, tu es le peuple que j’ai choisi, tu es né de mon ami Abraham. Je suis allé te chercher jusqu’au bout du monde, je t’ai appelé depuis les régions les plus éloignées. Je t’ai dit : “Mon serviteur, c’est toi, je t’ai choisi, je ne t’ai pas repoussé.” N’aie pas peur, je suis avec toi. Ne regarde pas autour de toi avec inquiétude. Oui, ton Dieu, c’est moi. Je te rends fort, je viens à ton secours et je te protège avec ma main puissante et victorieuse. Tous ceux qui sont en colère contre toi seront couverts de honte et d’insultes. Ceux qui se disputent avec toi seront détruits et mourront. Ceux qui luttent contre toi, tu les chercheras et tu ne les trouveras plus. Ces gens qui te font la guerre seront détruits et ils disparaîtront. Moi, le SEIGNEUR, je suis ton Dieu. Je te tiens par la main. Je te dis : “N’aie pas peur, je viens à ton secours.” « N’aie pas peur, peuple de Jacob, petit ver de terre, toi, faible reste d’Israël. Le SEIGNEUR déclare : Je viens à ton secours. Celui qui te libère, c’est moi, le Dieu saint d’Israël.

Tenez-vous en silence ╵devant moi, vous, les îles ╵et les régions côtières ! Que les peuples lointains ╵raniment leur courage : qu’ils approchent, qu’ils parlent ! Oui, allons ensemble en justice. Qui a fait lever de l’orient celui que la justice ╵entraîne sur ses pas ? Qui lui a livré les nations et qui a abaissé des rois ? Son épée pulvérise ╵les peuples devant lui et son arc les disperse ╵comme un fétu de paille ╵emporté par le vent. Il les poursuit ╵et va plus loin, indemne, par un chemin ╵que son pied n’avait pas foulé ╵auparavant. Qui accomplit cela ? ╵Qui le fait arriver ? Qui appelle à la vie les générations d’hommes ╵dès le commencement ? Moi, l’Eternel, ╵moi, qui suis le premier et qui suis avec les derniers, ╵oui, c’est bien moi ! Les habitants des îles ╵et des régions côtières ╵ont vu ce que j’ai fait ╵et sont saisis de crainte ; ceux qui ont pour demeure ╵les confins de la terre ╵se sont mis à trembler. Ils approchent, ils viennent, ils s’aident mutuellement, chacun dit à son frère : ╵« Courage ! » L’artisan encourage le fondeur. Le polisseur soutient ╵celui qui bat l’enclume. Il dit de la soudure : ╵« Voilà du bon travail ! » Et il fixe l’idole avec des clous afin qu’elle ne bouge pas. Quant à toi, Israël, ╵mon serviteur, Jacob, que j’ai choisi, et descendance d’Abraham, ╵qui était mon ami, toi que je suis allé chercher ╵aux confins de la terre et que j’ai appelé ╵de ses extrémités, toi à qui j’avais dit : « Tu es mon serviteur », je t’ai choisi et non pas rejeté. Ne sois pas effrayé, car je suis avec toi ; ne sois pas angoissé, car moi je suis ton Dieu. Je t’affermis, je viens à ton secours, pour sûr, je te soutiens ╵de mon bras droit ╵qui fait justice. Tous ceux qui sont irrités contre toi, sombreront dans la honte ╵et dans le déshonneur. Tes adversaires ╵seront réduits à rien, ╵ils périront. Tu auras beau chercher, ╵tu ne trouveras plus ceux qui te querellaient. Ils seront tous anéantis, ╵réduits à rien ceux qui t’ont fait la guerre. Car c’est moi, l’Eternel, ╵qui suis ton Dieu, je saisis ta main droite, je te dis : Sois sans crainte, je suis là pour t’aider. Sois donc sans crainte, ╵vermisseau de Jacob, ô petit Israël, car je viens à ton aide, l’Eternel le déclare ; celui qui te délivre ╵c’est le Saint d’Israël.
