“Hear this, you priests! Pay attention, you Israelites! Listen, royal house! This judgment is against you: You have been a snare at Mizpah, a net spread out on Tabor. The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter. I will discipline all of them. I know all about Ephraim; Israel is not hidden from me. Ephraim, you have now turned to prostitution; Israel is corrupt. “Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. A spirit of prostitution is in their heart; they do not acknowledge the LORD. Israel’s arrogance testifies against them; the Israelites, even Ephraim, stumble in their sin; Judah also stumbles with them. When they go with their flocks and herds to seek the LORD, they will not find him; he has withdrawn himself from them. They are unfaithful to the LORD; they give birth to illegitimate children. When they celebrate their New Moon feasts, he will devour their fields. “Sound the trumpet in Gibeah, the horn in Ramah. Raise the battle cry in Beth Aven; lead on, Benjamin. Ephraim will be laid waste on the day of reckoning. Among the tribes of Israel I proclaim what is certain. Judah’s leaders are like those who move boundary stones. Le SEIGNEUR dit : « Vous, les prêtres, écoutez bien, vous les chefs d’Israël, soyez attentifs, et vous, gens de la maison du roi, ouvrez l’oreille ! Vous deviez rendre la justice. Pourtant, à Mispa, vous avez pris les gens au piège. Sur le mont Tabor, vous leur avez tendu un filet. À Chittim, ils ont creusé un grand trou. Eh bien, moi, je vais les punir tous. « Moi, je connais bien la tribu d’Éfraïm , et Israël n’a pas de secret pour moi. Vous avez poussé Éfraïm à se prostituer et maintenant, tout Israël est rendu impur. » Ce que les gens d’Israël ont fait ne leur permet pas de revenir vers leur Dieu. Oui, un vent de prostitution souffle parmi eux, et ils ne connaissent pas le SEIGNEUR. L’orgueil d’Israël témoigne contre lui. Israël et Éfraïm tombent à cause de leur faute. De même Juda tombe avec eux. Avec leurs moutons et leurs bœufs, qu’ils vont offrir en sacrifice, ils cherchent le SEIGNEUR. Mais ils ne le trouveront pas, parce qu’il est parti loin d’eux. Ils n’ont pas été fidèles envers le SEIGNEUR, ils ont mis au monde des enfants illégitimes . Maintenant, d’ici un mois, leur pays sera détruit. Le Seigneur dit : « Faites entendre la corne de bélier à Guibéa, sonnez de la trompette à Rama ! Prévenez les gens de Beth-Aven. L’ennemi va t’attaquer par-derrière, tribu de Benjamin. Le jour où je punirai la tribu d’Éfraïm, elle deviendra un désert. Ce que j’annonce ainsi au sujet des tribus d’Israël est tout à fait sûr. Les chefs de Juda se conduisent comme des gens qui déplacent les bornes de leur champ . Ecoutez ceci, prêtres, et soyez attentifs, ╵gens d’Israël ! Ecoutez, vous aussi, ╵gens de la cour du roi ! Car il vous incombait ╵de rendre la justice, mais vous avez été ╵à Mitspa comme un piège, sur le Thabor ╵comme un filet tendu. A Shittim, vous avez creusé ╵une fosse profonde, mais je vais préparer ╵une correction pour eux tous. Je te connais bien, Ephraïm, Israël ne m’est pas caché. Aussi, comme un torrent, je répandrai sur eux ╵les flots de ma colère. Ephraïm sera écrasé et brisé par le jugement, car il veut se conduire ╵d’après ses propres règles. Quand Ephraïm a vu son mal et Juda son ulcère, Ephraïm est allé ╵chercher de l’aide en Assyrie et il a envoyé ╵un message au roi batailleur. Mais le roi assyrien ╵ne pourra vous guérir ni soigner votre ulcère. Car moi, je serai comme un lion pour les Ephraïmites et comme un jeune lion ╵pour les gens de Juda. Moi, oui, moi, je déchirerai ╵et puis je m’en irai, j’emporterai ma proie ╵et nul ne les délivrera. Alors je m’en irai, ╵je rentrerai chez moi jusqu’à ce qu’ils se reconnaissent ╵coupables et cherchent ma faveur. Alors, dans leur détresse, ╵ils vont avoir recours à moi.
