Abraham a pris une autre femme. Elle s’appelle Quetoura. Elle lui a donné pour fils Zimran, Yoxan, Medan, Madian, Ichebac et Choua. Yoxan est le père de Saba et de Dédan. De Dédan naissent les Achourites, les Letouchites et les Leoumites. Madian a pour fils Éfa, Éfer, Hanok, Abida et Elda. Voilà les enfants et les enfants des enfants de Quetoura. Abraham donne tous ses biens à Isaac et il fait des cadeaux aux fils de ses autres femmes. Mais pendant qu’il est encore vivant, il les envoie loin de son fils Isaac, vers l’est. Abraham a 175 ans quand il meurt. Il quitte la vie après une vieillesse longue et heureuse. Il va rejoindre ses ancêtres déjà morts. Ses fils Isaac et Ismaël l’enterrent dans la grotte de Makpéla. Elle est dans le champ d’Éfron, fils de Soar le Hittite, près de Mamré. Abraham a acheté ce champ aux fils de Heth. C’est là qu’on enterre Abraham avec Sara, sa femme. Après la mort d’Abraham, Dieu bénit son fils Isaac. Isaac habite près du puits de Lahaï-Roï. Voici la famille d’Ismaël, le fils d’Abraham. Sa mère, c’est Agar, l’esclave égyptienne de Sara. Voici les noms des fils d’Ismaël, suivant l’ordre de leur naissance : Nebayoth l’aîné, Quédar, Adbéel, Mibsam, Michema, Douma, Massa, Hadad, Téma, Yetour, Nafich et Quedma. Voilà les douze fils d’Ismaël. Chacun est le chef d’un clan. Ils donnent leurs noms à leurs villages et à leurs campements. Ismaël a 137 ans quand il meurt. Il quitte la vie et il va rejoindre ses ancêtres. Les Ismaélites vivent dans la région située entre Havila et Chour. Chour est près de l’Égypte, vers Achour. Ils s’installent donc loin de tous leurs frères.

Abraham had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah. She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Ashurites, the Letushites and the Leummites. The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah. Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac. But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east. Abraham lived a hundred and seventy-five years. Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years; and he was gathered to his people. His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite, the field Abraham had bought from the Hittites. There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah. After Abraham’s death, God blessed his son Isaac, who then lived near Beer Lahai Roi. This is the account of the family line of Abraham’s son Ishmael, whom Sarah’s slave, Hagar the Egyptian, bore to Abraham. De ce dernier descendent les Ashourim, les Letoushim et les Leoumim. Madian eut pour fils : Epha, Epher, Hénok, Abida et Eldaa. Tous ceux-là sont les descendants de Qetoura. Abraham donna tout ce qui lui appartenait à Isaac. Il fit des donations aux fils qu’il avait eus par ses épouses de second rang ; mais, de son vivant, il les éloigna de son fils Isaac en les envoyant à l’est, vers un pays d’Orient. Abraham atteignit l’âge de cent soixante-quinze ans, puis il rendit son dernier soupir. Il mourut au terme d’une heureuse vieillesse, âgé et comblé, et rejoignit ses ancêtres. Ses fils Isaac et Ismaël l’enterrèrent dans la caverne de Makpéla, dans le terrain d’Ephrôn, fils de Tsohar, le Hittite, qui se trouve vis-à-vis de Mamré, ce champ qu’Abraham avait acheté aux Hittites. Abraham fut enterré là comme sa femme Sara. Après la mort d’Abraham, Dieu bénit son fils Isaac qui s’établit près du puits de Lachaï-Roï. Voici la généalogie d’Ismaël, fils d’Abraham enfanté par l’Egyptienne Agar, servante de Sara. Voici les noms des fils d’Ismaël par ordre de naissance. Son premier-né s’appelait Nebayoth, puis viennent Qédar, Adbéel, Mibsam, Mishma, Douma, Massa, Hadad, Téma, Yetour, Naphish et Qedma. Tels sont les noms des fils d’Ismaël qui devinrent les chefs de douze familles établies dans leurs villages et leurs campements respectifs. Ismaël vécut cent trente-sept ans, puis il rendit son dernier soupir ; il mourut et rejoignit ses ancêtres. Ses descendants se sont établis de Havila jusqu’à Shour, aux confins de l’Egypte, en direction d’Ashour. Il vivait en hostilité avec tous ses semblables.
