David rele Abyata, prèt la, pitit gason Akimelèk la, li di l konsa: — Pote jile Bondye a isit ban mwen! Abyata pote jile Bondye a bay David. David pale ak Senyè a, li di li: — Eske se pou m ale dèyè bann moun sa yo? Eske m'a rapousib yo? Senyè a di li: — Ou mèt ale dèyè yo. W'a rapousib yo, epi w'a sove moun yo fè prizonye yo.

Il demanda au prêtre Abiatar, fils d’Ahimélek, d’apporter l’éphod servant à consulter l’Eternel. Abiatar le lui présenta. David interrogea l’Eternel en lui demandant : Dois-je poursuivre cette bande ? Parviendrai-je à les rattraper ? Et l’Eternel lui répondit : Poursuis-les, car tu vas les rattraper et tout récupérer.

Il dit au prêtre Abiatar, fils d’Ahimélek : « S’il te plaît, apporte-moi les objets sacrés pour consulter le SEIGNEUR. » Abiatar les apporte. David demande au SEIGNEUR : « Si je poursuis cette bande de pillards, est-ce que je pourrai les rattraper ? » Le SEIGNEUR répond : « Poursuis-les, tu les rattraperas et tu délivreras les prisonniers. »

Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelek, “Bring me the ephod.” Abiathar brought it to him, and David inquired of the LORD, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?” “Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue.”
