Salomon devient le gendre du Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, en se mariant avec l’une de ses filles. Il l’installe dans le quartier de Jérusalem appelé « Ville de David ». Elle reste là pendant tout le temps où Salomon construit son palais, le temple du SEIGNEUR et les murs qui entourent Jérusalem. À cette époque, les gens continuent à offrir des sacrifices dans les lieux sacrés du pays. En effet, on n’a pas encore bâti de temple consacré au SEIGNEUR.

Solomon made an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt and married his daughter. He brought her to the City of David until he finished building his palace and the temple of the LORD, and the wall around Jerusalem. The people, however, were still sacrificing at the high places, because a temple had not yet been built for the Name of the LORD.

Salomon s’allia par mariage avec le pharaon, roi d’Egypte, en épousant sa fille. En attendant d’avoir fini de bâtir son palais, le temple de l’Eternel et le rempart autour de Jérusalem, il l’installa dans la Cité de David. Seulement, en ce temps-là, le peuple continuait à offrir des sacrifices sur les hauts lieux car on n’avait pas encore construit le temple pour l’Eternel.
