Breathing Room

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5–Living with Margin and Mission

When we create breathing room in our souls, something powerful happens: we rediscover purpose. The Lord restores our strength not just so we can feel rested, but so we can re-enter the world renewed. “He restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for His name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3).

Margin allows mission. Without it, we live reactive lives, constantly drained and distracted. But when we live from a place of peace, we have the emotional and spiritual capacity to love others well. We can listen, serve, and give generously—not out of obligation, but out of overflow.

Paul reminds us, “Be careful then how you live… making the most of the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). Breathing room isn’t selfish—it’s strategic. It’s how we remain connected to the Spirit so that our work, our relationships, and our witness bear fruit for God’s glory.

Questions to Reflect On

  1. How can you build margin into your life to live more intentionally?
  2. What mission or calling might God be renewing in you through rest?
  3. Deeper Question: What would it look like to live from overflow rather than exhaustion, letting your rest in Christ fuel your purpose?
