What Is the Mission?

Christmas reveals God’s mission to the world: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son” (John 3:16). The birth of Jesus was not just a beautiful story or a seasonal celebration—it was the unfolding of God’s redemptive plan for humanity. In that manger lay the Savior who would one day carry the cross. The cry of the newborn child in Bethlehem echoed the heartbeat of God’s love for a lost world.

From the very beginning, God’s mission has been to seek and save the lost. Through Christ, He bridged the gap between heaven and earth, light and darkness, holiness and sin. The angels announced peace on earth because the Prince of Peace had come. His birth was the beginning of a movement that continues through His Church today.

As followers of Christ, we are not mere spectators of this mission—we are participants. Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). The same love that sent Christ into the world now sends us out to share His message of salvation, hope, and peace.

Christmas, then, is not just a memory of what God did but a reminder of what He is still doing through us.
