Time to Bloom

DAY 4 OF 5

Stuck in Place

Paul said that the Corinthian believers, who were enriched in Christ, couldn't be addressed as spiritual people but as worldly because of the divisions, jealousy, and quarreling among them. This leads us to conclude that spiritual maturity is the state of those who have received salvation and all its riches, and at the same time, give themselves in humility and obedience to please God. The renewing of the mind, transformation, growth, the fruit of the Spirit all points in one direction: spiritual maturity.

The Corinthians were stuck in a swamp of jealousy and division. They were losing the value and beauty of the riches they had received because of their internal conflicts. They were constantly moving further away from the perfect center of God's will. Paul spoke to them so they would open their eyes to a vital truth—one that all Christian churches should learn and remember.

Every servant of God serves the church in a unique way, helping out in the Lord's vineyard, but they are aware that the growth comes from God.

That's why they were stuck—it's impossible to grow when our eyes are fixed on people and not on God. Paul expresses it powerfully in these words:

“What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” 1 Corinthians 3:5–7 (NIV)

We must remain at the Master’s feet. It’s totally normal to have our own preferences and likes, but we must be wise so that these things never get in the way of our growth in the Lord. Let's be guided by His Word. In obedience and humility, let's desire to know Him more every day. Only then will our spiritual senses mature, and we will be growing and blooming for His glory.

About this Plan

Time to Bloom

Both physical growth and spiritual growth are essential for normal development. However, spiritually speaking, stopping our growth, or not growing at all, can be extremely harmful. In this plan, we'll talk about spiritual maturity and God's advice for us to bloom in the Lord and produce fruit for His glory.
