How to Practice Gratitude in the Midst of Waiting by Wycliffe Bible Translatorsનમૂનો

Go to God’s Word
What are you waiting on lately? Does the holdup feel like it’s wearing you down? Maybe you’re yearning for a change in your career, health or relationships. Maybe your hope is starting to fail, and you’re desperate to finally get the answer for something you’ve been praying about for so long. Maybe the prayer isn’t even for yourself; it’s for someone you love. You might wonder, “God, where are You in all of this?”
Practicing gratitude in the midst of uncertainty and delay might feel far-off from your thoughts — yet deep down you know you have much to be thankful for. So how can you intentionally focus on blessings and gratitude while waiting on God? First, you can go to God’s Word.
The Bible offers you encouragement and examples to follow that will keep you moving forward even when it feels like your situation is going nowhere. Do you need some reminders of the goodness and power of God’s Word to motivate you to appreciate it and rely on it more? If that’s the case, let these truths encourage you:
- The Bible is inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16).
- The Bible is living and powerful (Hebrews 4:12).
- The Bible is your guide (Psalm 119:105).
- The Bible is as necessary as daily food (Matthew 4:4).
- The Bible is eternal (1 Peter 1:24-25).
- The Bible is productive and effective (Isaiah 55:11).
- The Bible is your encouragement and hope (Romans 15:4).
- The Bible is straight from God, and it’s true (Proverbs 30:5, 2 Peter 1:20-21).
These truths just scratch the surface of what the Bible is and how it impacts you! It teaches you who God is and how much He loves you. He is Creator and Sustainer of all, and He is your heavenly Father. If you had nothing else but Him and His Word, you’d have everything to be grateful for.
Yet He also gives you so much more than basic needs, and He loves to bless you even beyond what you can imagine.
He is with you right now, and He cares about every concern — big or small. With His Word guiding you and His presence near, you can keep asking for what you need while also focusing on being grateful for everything He’s already given.
Reflection:
- What comes to mind when you focus on the greatness of God and His Word?
- As you read these psalms, think about who God is and how much He loves you. Reflect on the blessing of having access to the Bible so you can draw closer to Him.
