Thanksgiving That Transforms Your Life

DAY 2 OF 3

Thanksgiving Can Bring Peace

Many of us can attest to the fact that holiday gatherings aren’t always peaceful. Sometimes family tensions rise, or stress over preparations steals our joy. Or sometimes it’s a lonely holiday, reminding you of all you don’t have.

But giving thanks to God offers you a way to experience true peace in every situation, no matter what's happening in your life this holiday season.

Philippians 4:6-7 contains an amazing promise: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God…will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Just look at that! Giving thanks is part of God’s recipe for peace.

Colossians 3:15 tells us, Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…And be thankful. Once again, thankfulness and peace go together in God’s instructions. Thankfulness and peace belong together!

So this Thanksgiving, try letting gratitude set the tone at the table and in your heart. Instead of focusing on what’s gone wrong or what might go wrong, thank God for all His benefits and for what’s already good.

Maybe your Thanksgiving table is full, or maybe it feels empty this year. Maybe there’s strife or grief or anger present. Whatever your circumstance, gratitude invites God’s peace into your heart and home.

Thanksgiving isn’t about perfect food or family - it’s about the perfect peace of Christ filling your life. Choose gratitude over stress and invite His peace to rule in your heart this Thanksgiving.
