An Encounter With Jesus

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5: Prayer — A Daily Encounter

Over the past few days, we have seen what an amazing impact an encounter with Jesus can have in our lives. It is such a powerful experience, and we cannot help but be changed and share when it happens in our lives. This is something that we should desire and fight for, but I want to encourage you with something very important, friend — just because we have to ask for it does not mean Jesus is withholding it from us.

God wants us to have that encounter so much that He sent His Son to open up the path of communication. When He went to Heaven, Jesus told His disciples that they didn’t have to ask Him to talk to the Father for them anymore. He was giving us authority, in His name, so we can have all boldness in prayer, and we can go right to the Father.

Prayer is so important for building up our relationship with Jesus, and it is an encounter that we can have with Him every day, any time, no matter where we are. Jesus gave us that opportunity, and He wouldn’t do so much work to offer it to us if He didn’t want us to have it.

If you are still having trouble believing that Jesus wants you to encounter Him, then I just want to tell you about the kind of prayer that Paul talks about in Romans 8. You might say, “So much is going on, and I don’t know how to pray. I don’t know what to say.” Well, the Holy Spirit has made a way for you. As a believer, you can say, “Lord, I’m going to yield my spirit, I’m going to yield my tongue, and I’m going to pray in tongues and believe that I’m praying the will of God for this situation.”

God was so eager for us to have the opportunity to pray to Him and encounter Him every day that He made a way for us to do it even when we don’t know what to say! Why would He do that if He didn’t want us talking to Him? We are blessed with such a wonderful God who wants to hear from us and who wants us to experience Him, friend, so don’t throw that chance away! He has provided everything you need for your life-changing, one-on-one encounter with Him.

For Your Consideration

  • Do you set aside time to pray regularly? Take a moment to assess your prayer life.
  • God clearly wants us to pray to Him and encounter Him, but do you have a hard time believing that? Take a moment to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas in your thoughts or emotions that may prevent you from realizing how much He wants you to encounter Him.
