How to Trust God When You're Unemployedનમૂનો

As Christians, we are called to work as though we’re working for the Lord, not for man. Yet many of us, myself included, can lose sight of this truth. So when we’re terminated—whether laid off or unjustly fired—we often take it personally. Our first thought might be, “I’m a hard worker. How could they let me go?”
However, the reality is that job loss often has little to do with our performance. Sometimes, it’s simply the result of circumstances beyond our control. Take Daniel, for example. He was the model employee—wise, loyal, and full of integrity. Yet his career journey was marked by volatility and uncertainty. Daniel’s story reminds us that no matter how faithful or hardworking we are, our security must rest in God, not in any position or person. Daniel never forgot who his true CEO was—God. His loyalty wasn’t tied to titles, promotions, or earthly kings but to the One who held his future.
If your story feels like Daniel’s, full of ups, downs, and unexpected turns, take comfort. You’re in good company. Daniel served under four different kings: Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, Darius the Mede, and Cyrus the Great. Each ruler brought unique personalities, challenges, and dangers. He endured Nebuchadnezzar’s pride, witnessed Belshazzar’s arrogance destroy a kingdom, survived Darius’ misguided decree that landed him in the lion’s den, and continued serving faithfully under Cyrus. Through every season, Daniel remained steadfast and anchored by his faith rather than his circumstances.
Daniel’s success wasn’t defined by his titles but by his trust in God. He refused to let fear or compromise dictate his decisions. On multiple occasions, he defied the king’s orders at the risk of his life. Yet, Daniel’s faith gave him the courage to stand firm and even influence kings to change their minds.
Anyone who has worked in the corporate world knows how difficult it can be to change the mindset of those in leadership. Sadly, many people today are unemployed because of unchecked pride among management. While you may not always be able to avoid working with these types of individuals, you can learn to recognize the red flags of pride and prepare yourself spiritually and professionally for your next assignment.
