According to a widely recognized Jewish tradition, God gave His law through angels (cf. Acts 7:53; Galatians 3:19). The author picks up this tradition and argues that if even disobedience to this law was met with punishment, how much more so now with Jesus, who stands far above the angels. Whoever does not listen to His message and follow it is truly lost. Jesus’ message was proclaimed to us by eyewitnesses—the apostles. Through the miracles performed by the apostles, God confirmed the testimony of these eyewitnesses.

Reflection

Jesus is so much more than just “a friend.” He is the holy God. How terrible it must be to disregard this God and fail to give Him the honor He deserves.
