The Ministry Table

DAY 4 OF 30

Revival in a Graveyard

There are moments in life when God leads us into places that look like nothing but loss, barrenness, and impossibility. That’s where Ezekiel found himself — standing in a valley full of dry bones. Not broken bones. Not buried bones. Dry bones. Stripped of life. Without hope. A graveyard.

And it’s here that God asks Ezekiel a question that still echoes in our own spirits: “Son of man, can these bones live?

If we’re honest, the evidence says no. The evidence says it’s over. But God doesn’t ask us to measure the evidence — He asks us to trust His power. He’s not asking for analysis; He’s asking for faith.

Ezekiel’s response is wise: “O Lord God, You know.” In other words, “I don’t see how, but I know You can.”

Then God commands him: “Prophesy to these bones.” Speak life into lifeless places. Declare hope in hopelessness. Release heaven’s perspective over earth’s reality. And as Ezekiel spoke, there was a rattling sound. Bones came together. What was dead began to take shape.

But structure alone wasn’t enough. God told him again: “Prophesy to the breath.” Because revival is never complete until the Spirit of God fills what He has formed. It’s not enough to have the pieces aligned — we need the breath of the Spirit.

Maybe you’re standing in your own valley of dry bones today. Your faith feels weary. Your family feels broken. Your dream feels gone. But hear this: God does His best work in graveyards. Resurrections happen in graveyards!

Your role? Open your mouth. Prophesy life. Speak His Word even when you see no evidence. Revival begins with declaration, and when the Spirit breathes, what was dead lives again.

Prayer: Lord, I bring You the valleys of my life that feel like dry bones. Breathe Your Spirit into what feels hopeless. Help me to declare Your Word and trust that You are the God who brings life from death. Fill me with faith to believe again. Amen.

Reflection Question:

Where is God asking you to speak life and hope, even when all you see looks like dry bones?

About this Plan

The Ministry Table

The Ministry Table is a 30-day devotional plan created by and for ministry leaders. Each day, you’ll hear from a different pastor, leader, or ministry practitioner — voices from many churches, traditions, and places — offering encouragement, challenge, and wisdom drawn from their own walk with Jesus. Together, these reflections form a shared table of daily bread: a space where leaders can be fed, strengthened, and reminded that we’re not walking this road alone.
