Day 17 – Psalm 20 – The Lord Gives Victory

Life often feels like a battlefield. Some struggles are visible, like difficult circumstances or challenges at work, while others are hidden deep within—fear, doubt, or temptation. Psalm 20 is a reminder that real victory doesn’t come from our own strength or resources but from the Lord who goes before us. God’s people looked to Him in their times of battle, trusting that He was their defender and deliverer. That same truth holds for us today.

It’s natural to lean on what feels secure—our skills, plans, or the encouragement of others. These are good things, but they have limits. True strength comes from God alone. The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that God’s power is made perfect in our weakness. When we come to Him empty-handed, He fills us with what we need. Even when we feel fragile, His strength carries us through.

Trusting God with our battles doesn’t mean life will be free of hardship. But it changes how we walk through it. We can face difficulties with confidence, knowing that we are not alone. The Lord promises to equip us for every challenge and to work all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Victory in God’s eyes isn’t always about circumstances turning out the way we planned—it’s about His purposes being accomplished and His people being sustained.

Take a moment to think about the battles you’re facing today. Where do you feel overwhelmed? Where are you tempted to rely only on yourself? What would it look like to release those areas to the Lord and believe He is already at work? His victories often come in ways we don’t expect, but they always come in ways that reveal His faithfulness.

Prayer:
Lord, I bring my struggles to You. I confess that too often I rely on my own strength, but today I choose to trust that victory comes from Your hand. Give me peace in the middle of the battle and confidence in Your power to work all things for good. Amen
