The Lord is my strength

The beauty of the psalms is that they are written with truth and emotion reflecting on events in each writer’s life and how God has been there with him through the tough situations and the good times. These songs are open, honest, and real. This is why they’re timeless and still relevant to us today.

God is faithful. He’s the rock and fortress and deliverer as David wrote in this psalm so long ago. What was true for him then remains true for us today.

God is the shield, the protector. He is the horn, the strength of David’s salvation. He is the stronghold. God has provided David with salvation. David’s song is about being delivered from the hands of his enemies.

God has provided an opportunity for salvation for us all through Jesus’ death and resurrection. We are delivered and have a fortress built on a rock providing refuge and strength. Because of Jesus, we have salvation. God has made this happen.

So, we too can cry out with confidence and hope.
