Turn Your Eyes: Chapel Sessions Vol. 2 Devotional From Gateway Worshipનમૂનો

Covered by the Blood
But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises. If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it. –Hebrews 8:6–7 (NLT)
Have you ever made a trade? Maybe as a child, you swapped baseball cards or toys with friends, hoping to get something just a little more special. Or maybe as an adult, you’ve traded in a vehicle at a dealership, exchanging something used for something new. At its core, trading is a simple concept—an exchange of one thing for another, ideally of equal or greater value to each party.
In God’s economy, there was a trade so one-sided, so extravagant, that it defies human logic. Jesus offered His perfect, sinless life in exchange for our brokenness, sin, and shame. This wasn’t an even trade. It wasn’t a bargain. It was a divine act of mercy, love, and grace.
We brought nothing to the table but our flaws, failures, and rebellion. And yet, Jesus willingly took our place. He bore the weight of our guilt and endured the punishment we rightfully deserved so that we could receive what only He could offer: His righteousness, freedom, and the gift of eternal life. Through the shedding of His blood on the cross, He made a way for our redemption and forgiveness. His blood sealed a new covenant, one that bridges the gap between sinful humanity and a holy God, giving us right-standing with Him. What an incredible exchange—He took our worst and, in return, gave us His very best!
This isn’t just a covering of our sin, as though God’s pretending our failures never happened. Scripture tells us that our sins are completely removed: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12 NIV).
In other words, our sin isn’t just out of sight—it’s gone. Forgotten. Forgiven. Jesus’s sacrifice doesn’t just make us better people—it makes us new people. Through Him, we are brought into right relationship with God, adopted into His family, and invited to live in the freedom of grace rather than in the burden of guilt.
Today, take a moment to reflect on the depth of this divine trade. Let it sink in: God saw your worth even when you were at your worst. He didn’t hesitate. He didn’t ask for guarantees. He gave everything so you could have everything in Him. You are deeply loved. You are fully forgiven. And you belong to God—not because of anything you’ve done but because of everything Jesus did.
Let that truth shape your day. Live in the freedom of grace and walk in the joy of the greatest trade ever made.
Prayer: Father, make me more aware of this gift You’ve given me: salvation, freedom, and love from You. Thank You, Jesus, for the sacrifice You made for me—stepping out of Heaven and dying on the cross. Thank You, Father, for allowing Your Son to die. I can’t believe You love me like this. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for helping me grow and for leading me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
