Start Dreaming Again: From Valley to Vision

DAY 29 OF 30

Is Your Mute Button On?

“Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.” Psalm 107:2 NLT

It’s comforting to know that the Lord is “a mighty rock where I can hide” (Psalm 94:22). A shelter from the storms, a refuge from the enemy, a hiding place. There are moments in life when we need to escape from the stress and struggle of this world.

However, you can get yourself in trouble if you never come out of hiding. Like a child playing hide and seek, if you stay hidden away too long, your life becomes stuck on “mute.” You’re content to remain silent, to stay hidden—in fact, to never come out.

You can hear a friend or even the voice of the Lord urging you to “come out, come out, wherever you are” but there’s something enamoring about staying hidden. It’s like a gentle hush has come over your life and you kind of like it that way—no one’s drama to deal with, no one to answer to. It’s so serene here, you’re becoming drowsy and drifting off to sleep…

Don’t get me wrong; there are times to regroup and fall back into the refuge of God’s rock, to linger in the quiet place. But stay there too long and you’ll lose your purpose and your way forward. What began as a hiding place has turned into a trap of the enemy.

There is a time to come out of hiding and give the Lord the glory he deserves. A time to unmute yourself and tell the world all that the Lord has done. There is a time to shout his praise!

And if you’re wondering just what to shout, shout if the Lord has saved you! Shout if he’s protected you. Come out of your hiding place and tell the world about the goodness of the Lord. Don’t allow your life to be muted.

Pray:“God, I may have stayed too long under wraps. I acknowledge that you are God. Help me to speak forth your praise, in Jesus’ name, amen!”

Seek: Has the enemy tried to mute your life? In what areas do you feel like you’ve been silenced? Write out specific ways you can switch your voice back on.

Speak: I will not allow the enemy to mute my life. I declare that the Lord is good! I shout his praise!
