Honest to God

DAY 2 OF 7

Foolish Mind

“Can You heal

This messed up image

I’ve created of myself?

Can You deal

With every shattered piece?

God help me see”

I, Emmy, have struggled with my self-image for a long time. Growing up, I always felt like I needed to change my appearance to be satisfied with how I looked. But as I have gotten deeper into my relationship with Jesus, He has healed the way I view myself.

In His word, I have read the truth about me, and exchanged that for the enemy’s lies that said my worth was in my appearance, and that I needed other people’s approval. I know now that I am unconditionally loved by God, and it’s not connected to how I look or appear, even though He loves how He created me, too. God does not make mistakes; He knew exactly what He did when He created you. He can heal and restore whatever self-image you have that is not according to your identity in Christ. The truth about you is that you are wonderfully made by God, a loving Father, who willingly sacrificed His only Son so that you could be set free, restored, and welcomed home again.

In Mark chapter 5, we can read about how Jesus restored a woman’s identity. The woman had suffered from a bleeding condition and had heard about Jesus, who walked around and miraculously healed people. She fought her way through the crowd, and by just touching the hem of Jesus’ robe, she was healed. Not only had her faith healed her, but Jesus restored her identity by calling her “daughter” in front of everyone. He gave her worth, dignity, and a new identity as a beloved daughter of God.
