Game Changers: Devotions for Families Who Play Different (Age 8-12)નમૂનો

Good In the End
Ready: Genesis 37, 39-45
Set:
Joseph was loved by his father but hated and envied by his brothers. Joseph was one of the younger brothers, but he had a dream that he would become a leader over his family, and this made his brothers hate him. One day, Joseph’s father, Jacob, sent him to check on his brothers, and they took the opportunity to sell him into slavery to some travelers. They told their father that Joseph had been attacked and killed by an animal, even bringing his bloodied and torn jacket as evidence. God led Joseph on a journey that included being a slave and then getting thrown in prison for something he didn’t do. God gifted Joseph with the ability to interpret dreams, which he used to help other prisoners and even the king. He told the king his puzzling dream about fat cows and skinny cows meant seven years of abundance would be followed by seven years of famine. This insight gained Joseph the king’s trust and led to him being promoted to second in command of Egypt.
When the famine grew severe, Joseph’s brothers showed up to buy grain. His brothers had no idea it was Joseph standing in front of them. Joseph held their fate in his hands. However, through all his trials, Joseph never lost faith in God. He continued to believe all he suffered was to bring about God’s desired destiny for His people. In the end, he forgave his brothers for what they had done to him and reconciled with them with hugs and tears. The things that were meant for evil against Joseph, God used for good. He is, after all, a good, good God!
Go:
- How would you feel if your younger sibling or teammate told you they were going to be greater than you? How would you feel if you were traded away?
- Have any of your friends, teammates, or siblings done something to you that deeply hurt your feelings? Were you able to forgive them? Why or why not?
- How or what gave Joseph the ability to forgive his brothers?
- If Joseph didn’t know things would be okay, why do you think he kept his faith in God?
Workout:
Jeremiah 29:11; Job 23:10; Philippians 1:6; Ephesians 4:32
Overtime:
“Lord, sometimes things do not seem ok. They seem terrible. Thank You that You work everything out. Give me the strength to lean on You. Help me to forgive those who have hurt me and have a heart to be kind to everyone. In Your name, amen.”
About this Plan

When the calendar is full of practice, games and the next team try-out it can feel impossible to do one more thing. Growing spiritually as a family can easily fall off the list. This set of devotions aims to provide biblical knowledge and spiritual conversations starters that are perfect for the car ride or between games.
