The Guilt Strip: Time to End the Guilt Trip

DAY 1 OF 7

Guilt trip? No! ❌ Guilt strip? Yes! ✅

  • “I haven’t spent enough time today with God…”
  • “I should’ve done more Bible reading…”
  • “I need to do more for the Lord.”

Are these statements familiar to you? Do you find yourself saying or thinking these kinds of things?

That’s guilt stalking, not God talking!

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus – Romans 8:1

God isn’t looking for something from you. He’s not demanding more good works, more prayers, more time…Although, of course, these things are all good and may help you to draw closer to Him and know Him better.

But more than the things you do, God wants you, all of you.

The author C.S. Lewis said it so beautifully,

“God doesn’t want something from us. He simply wants us.”

When you emphasise the “doing,” guilt will quickly rear its ugly head.

But God doesn’t want to condemn you...He wants to free you! He will never guilt-trip you for not doing enough. Why? Because He’s seeking your heart above all.

He wants to be in a relationship with you based on love and connection, not a checklist.

My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. – Proverbs 23:26

When I first received this revelation–that God is full of grace, not angry, not demanding, but lovingly inviting me into a relationship with Him–it transformed my life.

It inspired me to write the song Parameshwar Pitah, which says:

Parameshwar Pitah (God our father)
Tu hi hai bhala (You alone are good)
Parameshwar pitah (God our father)
Tu hai nahi mujse khafa (You are not angry with me)
Tere pyaar hai sagar se bhi ghera (Your love is deeper than the ocean)
Tera dil karuna se hai bhara (Your heart is filled with mercy)
Teri nazar mujh par hai sada (You are always watching over me)
Tera naam yahova meri hai panah (Your name Jehovah is where I find refuge)

You can find the song on YouTube, listen to it, and take a moment to thank God for His love and kindness.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
