10-Day Prayer Challenge

DAY 5 OF 10

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus modeled a different kind of prayer. A prayer of surrender. Facing the cross, Jesus prayed, “Father, if it’s possible, take this cup from me. Yet not my will, but Yours be done.” (Luke 22:42) This wasn’t weakness; it was strength. He didn’t pretend to be okay—He was honest about His anguish. Yet He chose obedience over ease.

Surrender is the hardest kind of prayer. It means letting go of control. It means trusting that God’s way is better, even when it’s painful or unclear.

Jesus shows us that real prayer is more about yielding than demanding. When you say, “Your will be done,” you're declaring faith in God's goodness even when the outcome is uncertain.

Respond to God’s Word:
Identify one area where you’re resisting God’s will. Pray honestly, but end with surrender. Say, “Lord, I trust You. Have Your way in me.”
