Rain Devotional: A 3-Day Journey of Restoration, Revival, and Redirection

DAY 1 OF 3

Day 1: Rain of Restoration—When Life Feels Dried Up

Scripture: “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…” — Joel 2:25 (KJV)

Devotional Thought:

We’ve all experienced seasons that felt wasted—relationships that drained us, opportunities we missed, or years lost to grief, depression, or bad choices. Joel’s promise isn’t just about crops; it’s about the God who restores lost time, emotional strength, and broken trust.

That dry space in your confidence? God can rain on that. That cracked friendship or career setback? God knows how to make up for it. Like rain softens hardened soil, His restoration softens places we’ve hardened to survive.

Here’s a bonus idea, the Lord gave me. Consider what you can do! There’s a reset and tenacity that God is calling for from you, but will you stay mediocre, or will you step to the plate and accept the charge? God used a great flood (Genesis 6-9) to judge wickedness/ poor behavioral patterns and reset humanity through Noah. The water wiped the earth clean, and when it receded, a new covenant was established. God may be waiting on us to do our part. The reset and restore may already be in us, but we mustn’t see the flood as a wipeout but a reset. The flood was a filter, not a funeral. The flood wasn’t the end. It was the beginning of something purified, preserved, and promised.

Where have I shut down emotionally or spiritually due to disappointment? Ask God to rain on that dry ground today. What is God calling me to do? Have I not risen to the occasion? Ask Him to rain on your capabilities and have you see the value in you!

Prayer: God, restore not just what I lost—but also who I was before I lost it, if there was authorized strength in me. Rain on the places I’ve hidden from healing.
