The Whole Armor of God

DAY 3 OF 7

The Belt of Truth

The Roman soldiers’ belt secured the soldier’s armor, particularly the breastplate and lower waistband, and provided attachment points for weapons—it was often a symbol of status and rank and was decorated.

The King James Version of Ephesians 6:14 tells ustogird our loins "with truth”!

Peter also tells us to gird the loins of our minds with truth: "Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Pet. 1:13, ESV).

In one sense, the belt of truth has already been fastened around your waist. How so? In our salvation by grace through faith. Paul instructs us to have a firm grip on the truth fastened around our waist, holding things in place, enabling us to be free to move, and allowing the truth of God’s Word to shape all of our thoughts, actions, and overall life. This is not merely intellectual knowledge, but a solid understanding of the Scriptures and a deep, personal conviction that guides your behavior and helps you discern truth from falsehood. This means we must equip ourselves with God’s truth to enable us to stand firm against the lies of the enemy.

Satan continually distracts us at every turn with gender issues, politics, health concerns, etc. Some of us are easily influenced by secular humanism and deceived by spiritualism.

In Exodus, God tells Israel to eat the Passover with their belt fastened…due to the potential threat of antagonism around them. We also must have the belt of truth buckled tightly. We mean what we say, we believe what we say, and we live it. Paul tells Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15, ESV, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

About this Plan

The Whole Armor of God

As believers in Christ, we must not only learn how to walk in Christ, but we must also stand firm in Him! The Lord has given us all the armor we need, but we need help knowing how to use it. This seven-day plan is designed to help us understand the armor God has given us and be equipped to use it.
