Daniel Fast - Walking in His Presence Daily.

DAY 20 OF 21

In Awaiting For The King

“Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.” Revelation 22:12 (ESV)

Picture this: Jesus, just moments away from the cross, sits with His disciples. He knows they’re about to experience pain like never before, but He gives them hope. He compares their grief to a woman in labor—a pain so deep, yet followed by a joy that overshadows everything. Jesus promises that one day, they will see Him again, and when that moment comes, joy will flood their hearts, unshakable and unending. Because of His death and resurrection, that promise belongs to us too. Our heavenly home is secure (John 16:20-23a, John 14:1-3).

As we face trials on this earth, we hold onto the hope of being reunited with our Savior. Even as we encounter the death of loved ones who have died in Christ, the Lord gives us hope and comfort. The souls of God’s children rest with Him, free from earthly toil, at peace in His heavenly dwellings awaiting resurrection. (Revelation 14:13). Whether we are alive or have passed on, Christ will come for each of us. He will return for His own, and there will be a joyful and glorious reunion with our long-awaited King and Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Everyone will meet God. For some, it will be a joyful encounter with their merciful Redeemer. For others, it will be the fearful presence of a Righteous Judge.

Yes, there’s a judgment for believers too. But don’t worry—it’s not about condemnation for our sins. Those are paid in full by the blood of Jesus. Instead, it’s an evaluation of our lives: what we built, how we lived, and what will last into eternity (Romans 14:10-12; 2 Corinthians 5:1-8; 1 Corinthians 3:10-15).

God’s message to us is clear: don’t waste your life. The things built by the flesh will be consumed by His holy fire. It’s not about quantity but quality—what truly matters in eternity. The Day is coming when God will shine His light on every hidden thing, and rewards will be handed out accordingly (Ecclesiastes 12:14, Malachi 3:16, 2 John 8). So, let’s stay ready, like wise bridesmaids, prepared for the Bridegroom’s arrival (Matthew 25:1-13). Jesus wants us to steward His gifts wisely, multiplying them for His Kingdom (Matthew 25:14-30).

Those who reject Jesus will face the Great White Throne judgment. Their destiny is the lake of fire—eternal separation, death, and torment (Revelation 20:11-15, Matthew 25:31-46).

Jesus is coming back! We don’t know the day or hour, but we know He’ll return as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. The early church lived with a sense of urgency, like Jesus could come back at any second. That expectancy powered their lives and kept them focused on eternity.

A day is coming when our Beloved King will gather His own. The wedding feast of the Lamb will be the grandest celebration ever. Christ will present His Bride, the church, radiant and pure (Revelation 19:7-9, Ephesians 5:27). All sorrow will end, and eternal joy will begin. Until then, our job is to let God mold us, to live out His will and His calling, and to multiply His glory.

“Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” Matthew 24:42 (ESV)

“Live every day as if Christ died yesterday, rose this morning, and is coming back tonight!”

“King Jesus, You are holy and good, the Lord of lords! I worship You, even when life’s challenges cloud my vision. Help me to always see You, my Coming King! May my life declare Your glory, no matter what. I can’t wait for the day You return to right every wrong and establish Your Kingdom on earth! Teach me to make the most of the time You’ve given, bearing fruit that will last forever. Come quickly, Lord Jesus! Amen.”
