Running to the Fireનમૂનો

WHAT IF?
For many years I have served with Franklin Graham on the Samaritan’s Purse team. In that time, I’ve been to countless destinations and responded to numerous disasters. All without holding any degrees or receiving any special training to equip me to live the life I have experienced.
When I read my Bible, I realize that puts me in some good company. Gideon said, “But I’m just a farmer” (see Judges 6:15). Moses, as well as David, said, “But I’m just a shepherd” (see Exodus 3:11 and 1 Samuel 18:18). And Peter said, “But I’m just a fisherman” (see Luke 5:8).
When God called me, my response was much like theirs: “But I’m just a well driller.” For the first two decades of my working life, I drilled water wells. That was the worldview through which I learned how to solve problems and fix things that were broken.
So the real difference maker, the game changer, the common denominator is that I serve the same God as those men in the Bible did.
From the pages of Scripture, we find that it’s not about what any of us can’t do. It’s about what He can do.
Whatever your “But I’m just a…” may be, please keep this in mind: If God can choose to work in and through Ken Isaacs, a blue-collar common man from Boone, North Carolina, then why would He not work in your life too?
So here are my questions:
What if you fully surrendered your life to Jesus?
What if He asks you to follow Him?
What if He asks you to go somewhere that has great need?
Jude 1:23 tells us, “Rescue others by snatching them from the flames” (NIV). Let’s get ready to run to the fire.
Would you say you tend to be more eager or more hesitant to jump into tricky or dangerous situations to help others? What holds you back?

About this Plan

Ken Isaacs has spent decades with the organization Samaritan’s Purse, going to some of the most challenging hot spots on earth amid war, drought, hurricanes, earthquakes, and other seemingly impossible situations. In these devotionals he reminds us that God might be calling us to run to the fire whether around the world or in our own homes—and show love in Jesus’s name.
