Jesus does not leave His disciples alone

“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20 ESV)

Jesus' disciples had close personal contact with Him while He was on earth. They listened to His teachings, witnessed the miracles He performed, and could literally touch Him. After Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, things changed. Although He did appear to His disciples from time to time—individually, in small groups, or to as many as 500 people at a time—He did not stay with them. He explained to them, “I am ascending to My Father and your Father” (John 20:17 ESV).

Forty days after His resurrection, the time had come. Jesus returned to heaven and would not come back until the end of time. However, as He said goodbye, He made a promise: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. […] I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 ESV)

How is that possible? How can Jesus be with people if He is no longer on earth? This is possible because He is not bound to a body. Jesus is not only human, but also God. And as God, He can be present everywhere at once. With His majesty, grace, and Spirit, He is always with His disciples.
