God, Go With Them: 31 Back to School Prayers for Your Child

DAY 1 OF 31

You love your child deeply. You want them confident in who they are, kind and brave, walking in wisdom, and above all—knowing God and staying close to Him.

But the school year brings its own weight. The rush of mornings. The worry over choices you can't control. The heartache of missing moments that matter.

And so we pray.

As a parent with two elementary-aged kids, I created this plan for that sacred space—those quiet moments:

  • when your heart hopes or aches
  • when you're unsure what to say
  • when you simply want to speak God's truth over your child

Each day offers a Bible verse, encouragement, and a prayer to launch your conversation with God. No perfect words required.

  1. Invite God into the real places of your child's life: academic pressures, growing identity, friendships, fears, and the daily shaping of their character.
  2. As you pray, pause and listen. Ask God what He sees. Let Him lead the conversation.
  3. Pray as an act of trust. Your prayers are planting seeds you may not see flourish for years. But they're taking root. Every word matters. Every moment counts. With every prayer, you're entrusting your child to God and speaking life and truth over them through these simple, sacred conversations.

Let's begin with our first prayer.

God, help me to trust You with what You're doing in my child's life. When they step into the unknown, fill them with Your courage. Remind them that You are always with them. Drive out fear and strengthen them by Your presence. Amen.
