From Waiting to the Immediateનમૂનો

We Must Go to the Right Source
To be prepared to go from waiting to the immediate, we need to go to the right source. The pool of Bethesda was known as a place of healing. It wasn’t just the Jews who believed in its power—pagans did too. At one point, the pool was even dedicated to the Greek god of healing, Asclepius. People went there because they believed there was something special, almost magical, about the water; they had faith, but faith placed in the wrong source.
Many times in our lives, desperation to get out of a difficult situation leads us to do the same—we put our faith in the wrong places. We trust in rituals, horoscopes, the lottery, or even in our own strength. But the only true source of life is Jesus.
When Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well and asks her for a drink, He responds: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:13–14).
Putting our faith in the wrong source not only fails to quench our thirst—it diverts us from the only One who can give us more than we ask or imagine. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.”
That’s why, no matter how long we’ve been waiting, we must always go to the only true source. Though the man at the pool waited 38 years for his miracle, it wasn’t the water that healed him. It was his encounter with Jesus.
What or who are you trusting in while you wait for your miracle, and how is that source shaping the way you wait?
Prayer: Lord, help me recognize where I’m placing my expectations, desires, and dreams. May You be the source I go to every day, and may I not cling to things trying to take Your place. In Jesus’ name, amen.
