One of my favourite items in the Super Mario Bros. universe is the star. You get the star and you become invincible! Every Goomba, Koopa Troopa and Boo could come at you all at once, but they wouldn’t stand a chance. The star increases his protection, similarly to how the quality of our faith increases ours.

Jonathan had a deep trust in the Lord. He knew that God would protect him, and that He would fight for him, and he followed the instructions of the Lord into battle, even when he appeared to be outnumbered. The quality of his faith was far greater than the quantity of soldiers he faced, and the Lord granted him victory.

As you go about your day, think about what the quality of your faith looks like, and how you can increase your faith in order to face the battles ahead of you.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You that You care for me and that You have won the victory for me. Help me to increase my faith, so that I can walk into battle unafraid, knowing that You go before me. Amen.
