How can we live in Truth?
For us to live in Truth, we must adapt our lives to match the teaching of the Bible to have fellowship with the Lord. In Psalm 15, David petitions God to know who may enter the Lord’s tent by invitation to fellowship with Him. The rest of the Psalm answers the question: “He who walks upright” (integrity), “works righteousness” and “speaks the truth in his heart.”
Living according to God’s truth consists of worshiping the true God. In the conversation with the woman at the well in John 4:22-24, Jesus teaches the importance of properly understanding who He is and that to worship God appropriately it must be practiced “in spirit and truth.”
Living in truth equips the saint to overcome Satan as Paul describes in Ephesians 6:10–17. Paul begins verse 14 with a command, “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth.” The soldier was to have his belt tightly tied around his waist which sent a message to everyone that he was alert and on duty. The “belt” or “girdle” held all his equipment together, including his sword. Therefore, the apostle described truth as essential for every soldier of Christ.
The Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is replete with truth. God the Father is “abounding in goodness and truth” (Exodus 34:6). Likewise, the Son remains “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Today residing within each believer is the Holy Spirit. Jesus said concerning His arrival, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13a).
Child of God, know the God of truth. The Father dispatched the Son for this to be possible (John 1:18). Moreover, He has implanted within you the Spirit of Truth and that is great incentive to live according to God’s truth.
Employment Point: Live according to God’s truth.
