Journeying to Easter - Part 2નમૂનો

Our attitude towards prayer
This story of two men’s different attitudes to prayer is one that could be made up as an example, or may have been an embarrassingly observed occurrence.
The story has several lessons: Firstly, prayer is not about the one who prays. It’s about connecting with God. Secondly, our status, experience and sense of our own personal ‘righteousness’ (rightness when compared to others) does not recommend us to God. Certainly, our own sense of superiority and despising others almost disqualifies us from praying or, at least, nullifies the effectiveness of our prayers. Thirdly, humility, honesty and unashamed God-dependency are highly valued by God as a pathway to prayer and an avenue to attract the favour of God and see those prayers answered.
Thank God for these two men and for their example because now we have a pattern to come before God and talk to Him in ways that He welcomes.

About this Plan

“In these next days and weeks leading up to Easter, we’ll explore different scriptures. Each verse a thread in the tapestry of God’s great big redemption story – all culminating in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In this Easter season, let’s slow down and create a regular rhythm of remembrance together.” (Lent – Lucy Weil)
