Worthy

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Revelation 5:12

In Revelation 5, we find ourselves still in the Throne Room, but now our focus turns to the One who is WORTHY of it all; Jesus Christ, The Lion of the tribe of Judah, The One who has triumphed over sin and darkness and death.

Go Deep

This chapter gives us a powerful image of the Gospel story. In Exodus 12 we can read the story of the Passover lamb, which is a symbol of the coming of Jesus. The Jews were told to sacrifice a perfect lamb and to put its blood on the doorposts of their homes to save them from the plague of death that was coming upon the Egyptians. If the blood of the lamb was on their doors, they were safe. When Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected, it was His blood and sacrifice which made it possible for us to be in relationship with Him.

And now we finally get to see Him, Jesus, the Lamb of God, in all His glory receiving what He is due; the praise of all of creation. He is the only one who has overcome death, and it is by His blood that we are saved. He is the only one who is worthy.

Be Bold

Take some time to read the whole chapter. Not once, not twice, but many times! Allow yourself to be transported to and overwhelmed with the Throne Room and the presence of the Lamb. Then respond in worship. How can you join in with the multitude in heaven giving praise right now? Write some words down, sing, paint, dance, sit in awe and silence, bow down on your knees – however you respond, know that it is an offering of praise to the Lamb who was slain; the One who gave it all for you and who loves you with a never-ending love.
