Have you identified with Jesus through baptism?

The scriptures record the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. During a time with a hostile political climate and moral degradation, John the Baptist boldly proclaimed a greater One than himself and a greater baptism than merely just a baptism of water. Baptism by water is an important step for the believer after salvation through faith. Baptism identifies us with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Through His baptism by John the Baptist, Jesus set an example for believers to follow. The baptism of repentance, preached by John, illustrated salvation through Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. Remission is not only forgiveness but also power over sin. John made it clear that repentance is an action, a change of direction, not just a feeling or sorrow in the heart.
