Pause: A Month of Peace in Five Minutes a Dayનમૂનો

Proclaim
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)
Prompt
Even though our pasts are in the past, the effects of our past actions can linger far into the future. This is a universal truth, not just a truth for those with addiction, legal troubles, or marriage issues, but for all people with ALL issues.
Which means YOU.
Those of us who are addicts learn on our recovery journey that it is good and necessary to make amends for those we’ve hurt in our past. But you know what’s neither good nor necessary? Beating ourselves up for our past mistakes.
We need to learn from our mistakes, yes. But we don’t need to relive those mistakes, and we definitely don’t need to continually punish ourselves for those mistakes.
Instead, we find peace when we let go. You aren’t meant to hold them anyway—that’s Jesus’ job. You’re a new creation! The old you has gone away! Let it stay back there, in the crucified arms of Jesus, and move forward in peace today.
Prod
What past mistakes are you still holding? Get on your knees, lay out what you need to let go of, and ask Jesus to cast them as far as the East is to the West!
Praise
Listen to “Arms of Jesus” by Cade Thompson
Pray
Jesus, show me where I’m not trusting you enough with my past. Today, I give you everything that I’m struggling to let go of, including [NAME WHAT YOU NEED TO LET GO OF]. Amen.

About this Plan

Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by taking a pause each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
