There are five things every man should know about his wife; five things that keep you from trouble. There were five steps in God’s creative process, and they speak volumes: 1) God caused Adam to sleep. Adam had no say in the design. Adam was not asked his opinion. He was not consulted on final specifications. A wise man does not belittle God’s creative genius. 2) God took a rib. This indicates partnership and intimacy. Although the man is set in place as the head of the wife (Ephesians 5:23), he is to treat her as his ultimate life partner. 3) God closed the flesh. God’s creative Word did not harm Adam in any way. The marriage relationship should leave no scars. 4) God made the woman. She is God’s craftsmanship of the highest order. Some women jokingly say that when God created woman He got it right. In truth, when man and woman were placed together in the garden – everything was right. 5) God brought the woman to Adam. She is God’s gift; an undeserved blessing; an answer to man’s incompletion; an intimate to whom none can compare.
Rejoice in your wife. She is God’s good gift. I know a man who spent five years trying to change his wife. He now lives alone.
